FILL-A-BAG SUNDAYS
To help alleviate some of the strain on food pantries caused by increased food insecurity, Sacred Heart is asking you to fill a grocery bag with non-perishable items and bring it to church on the first Sunday of each month.
Our first recipient was Lexington Food Pantry, and this will alternate with the Arlington food pantry on the first Sunday of the month. Here are some needs of the Food Pantries: Baked beans, canned fruit, canned vegetables, macaroni and cheese, pasta, peanut butter, and shelf stable milk; also, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and other household necessities.
The food pantries and those they serve appreciate your support. If you are interested in volunteering on a Saturday to help with distribution to clients, please sign up on https://signup.com/go/ADhwSFE or contact Lexingtonfoodpantry.org.
Please contact Donnalee Farris (dlee1193@hotmail.com) with questions.
Thank you.
Our next Fill-A-Bag Sunday will be on October 5, and the recipient will be
Arlington Eats Food Pantry.
Did you know that 1 in 8 people in Massachusetts are food insecure?
Did you know that 10% of people living in Arlington are at risk of food insecurity?
Arlington Eats was started in 1991 and now serves approximately 450 households.
They have requested cereal (Cheerios), almond butter, tea, coffee, gluten-free items, soups, personal care items, shelf-stable milk, and other non-perishables, all in date. They would prefer these items be placed in grocery bags with handles like Trader Joe’s bags, because they are recycled for food distribution.
Again, we request that you leave your filled bag at the altar steps upon entering the Church. Thank you for your continued support.
